I am well on the way to preparing for my own amazing race. The thing I love about having this goal is that every week I do something new. I have now run for 55 minutes non-stop and increased my pace to 1km per 6 mins.

20 Minutes to the Weekend!!

Actually its 19 minutes now. I'm sitting at the client in my ergonomically correct chair and desk that electronically lifts up and down so i don't have to get down on my hands and knees to plug in my laptop (get your mind out of the gutter, especially U POS!), marvilling at the fact that I have internet access (this is as rare as hens teeth, at a client site) waiting for the seconds to count down to the weekend.

Not that its going to be exciting or anything. Its raining for a start and I have a shite load of study to do not to mention the running. Still with only 11 minutes to go and the pub beckoning things can't be all bad.

Thanks Digs for your help!!

I have now wasted another hour working out how to set this whole thing up!!

Ummm who can I charge this to?

When can I go back to the palm trees, blue skies and warm water?

Oh, did someone say drinks on the 8th?

Flying on a Jet Plane

Or an Air New Zealand SAAB340A to be extact.

It's going to be quite an exciting weekend ahead. Not only is my cousin getting married but for the first time in over 50 years my nan is going to actually fly on a jet plane. Unfortunately its one of those dinky little planes that you have to climb the stairs to get to. She assures me that this is no problem but I keep having nightmares of ground staff having to hoist her up on their shoulders and carrying her onto the plane. My Nan is quite a proud woman and if the shock of flying doesn't kill her this may well.

The running has been coming along slowly. After my stella effort at running at an easy pace for 30 minutes on Tuesday I spent Wednesday on the couch watching E entertainment television surrounded by a chemist shop of drugs to make me feel better. And my arms are so sore from Monday that I cant bend them so I look like one of those green bugs that live in Ernies pot plant. Sunday's long run is only 5 kms and I can do that easily so Im going to take it easy and start again then.

The Long Road Ahead

Having just returned home from my world tour to wonderful sunny Wellington I decided that it was time for a new challenge. Last year there were some mumblings around work about training for a half marathon. I remember one night down at dockside after work drinks agreeing to be part of this craziness, at least I think I do. I kind of thought the whole thing would have died down by the time I got back. But to my surprise people were keener than ever. So last weekend I did some research and designed a 12 week beginners training programme for us all.

Training starts MONDAY! I proudly announced. Of course Monday is a rest day ;). So training actually starts today although yesterday I did do some work on the treadmill and did Les Mills world famous body pump class. Now I have a sore throat and its raining outside so somehow I have to get my arse out the door for an easy 30 minute run.

Wherein lies the inspiration to use this thing. I figure the more people that know the less likely I am to chicken out. In any case there is nothing else super interesting happening at the moment and I doubt you want to know about the technicalities of international accounting standards.
